How do I get Started?
First, call NAEC® to receive your FREE application. This application gives us the information we need to customize the accreditation process to your program.
Once NAEC® receives your application, a NAEC® mentor will meet with you in your center to discuss the accreditation process. This meeting will include:
During this initial meeting, your NAEC® mentor will give you all the materials and information you will need and explain exactly what you can expect throughout the program. You will receive:
-
A self-evaluation for you and your teachers.
Resources and forms for recording your progress throughout the program.
-
A professional development plan for you and your staff.
-
A binder to keep all of your accreditation information organized.
-
The Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) book and the Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS) book

Your mentor will also help you establish a schedule to keep you on target for your accreditation. This schedule will include:
-
When self-evaluations are due to be completed by your staff.
-
Staff meetings to discuss your teachers’ professional goals for their futures in child care.
-
Visits with your own personal NAEC® mentor.
-
Any necessary workshops or trainings.
Lastly, you will set up your staff orientation which is an exciting introduction for your staff. (Don’t worry, NAEC® does all the work!) NAEC® understands the crucial role your staff plays in the success of your center and of the children in your care. This orientation gets everyone on board!
-
Your mentor will introduce the accreditation program to your staff and assure them that the process will be painless.
-
The orientation is an opportunity for your staff to ask questions and get excited.
-
We wil enjoy yummy snacks and a fun time!
